Busy Day on the St. Marys River

Today has turned out to be a beautiful day here on the river. After a cold morning of 43 degrees, the clouds moved out and our temperature reached 63 degrees with a partly cloudy sky. I was able to get lots of flower garden work done. The soil is still quite cool so my hostas that are on the north side of the house are just emerging out of the ground. My apple tree is just starting to blossom, so you can see we are a bit behind in the vegetation department.

I've counted 12 boats passing by today.

I'll add to your list...Michipicoten, Cuyahoga, and Edgar Speer. Michipicoten was tied up the down bound canal by West Pier. Edgar Speer was going into the downbound locks. Cuyahoga was up bound. There was one other on the up side of the locks but was too far out to see the name (She was headed down bound also). This was at 7 to 7:30.

Hopefully the frosting weather is over so your apple blossoms survive!

You sure ARE a boat watcher!

CC-I hope we are 'out of the woods' with frost now but we will see. Working out in the yard yesterday gave me lots of chances to see the boat traffic.

Bill K, Thanks for the comments. Lots of traffic yesterday, wasn't there. So far this morning, I've seen two boats so today is starting good too.

Robert, The 4th is a great time to be up and the Sault and boat watching. They have the tug boat parade and races then. Plus the normal 4th of July celebration in Brady Park which sits right on the river just east of the Locks.
