Kurt Paul

The Kurt Paul came up the river over the weekend and is now docked on the Ontario side. I made a new 'friend' on Twitter and Facebook over the weekend and she sent me this picture taken from her side of the St. Marys River.

Th Kurt Paul is was built this year and is 469 foot cargo carrier. She is owned by a Germany company and is chartered to BBC Chartering. Her flag of registry is Antigua.

Thanks to iamkorrine for sending me the photo.

The Kurt Paul is a beauty. Virgin to the Great Lakes. I wonder why she is tied up a Purvis docks? Is she having mechanical problems or waiting for a load?

Hey there!
Glad you liked my pic enough to post it on your blog!
I was wondering the same thing Bill...

I have a question: Is there any way to find out what ships will be arriving daily?
When I lived in St. Catharines and Thorold I could see what ships were arriving when and what lock they would be at... Perhaps that was unique to the Welland Canal system?

Here in the states we can not get the shipping schedules or the times when the boats are coming to the locks. They say it is for security reasons (Homeland Security). If you have a scanner you can figure out which ones are up or down bound within about an hours time by listening to the Soo Locks Control frequency.
