Engineer's Day at the Locks.

What news from the Soo do you think made the newspaper in Chicago today? It wasn't the Asian Carp story this time. No, it was the story of Engineer's Day at the Locks. The Chicago Tribune ran a story about our big event.

There were many boats that passed during the day. We saw the following but missed several because of the rain.

Phillip R. Clarke
Joseph Thompson
Charles M. Beeghley
Sam Laud
Edwin H. Gott
Peter R. Cresswell

The mayflies have appeared on our screens this morning. I'll have to check the dates from previous years because this seems a bit early for the hatch.

The rain has caused our 'beach' out front to be soggy and the water level is up from last month.

Today is promised to be warm and sunny. I have two young grandchildren staying with us. They are 6 & 8 years old and they're looking forward to going in the water when it warms up. Today might be that day!

I hope one of these days that Dan and I can attend this event! Thanks for all you do to keep us informed of what is going on and the wonderful photos you share too!

Cathy, I heard there were 6,000 visitors to the Locks on Friday. Cloverland Electric also had a great display and open house at their Edison Sault facility which they recently purchased. I didn't make it there but wish I had.

is Engineers Day always June 25th or a certain day each year....we want to bring my son Trenton next year for his 5th birthday...one of my college professors was born and raised in Sault Ste Marie and she says it's awesome....in fact, her mom used to work for the Locks...

Amy, I believe that Engineer's Day is always the last Friday in June. It is becoming more popular every year. What is your professor's name and where does she teach? Just curious!

my Professor's name is Penny Apsey, but I do not know her maiden name...she teaches at Baker College in Owosso Mi, she is an early childhood education teacher...I guess she grew up in the Sault/Brimley area, she said she has relatives that live on the reservation up there....
