Cruise Ships on the Great Lakes

The following piece was on-line today at I'm looking forward to seeing the Clelia II next summer.

Someday, our ship will come

In 2009, two graceful cruise ships will ply the Great Lakes. The Pearl Mist, a brand-new, 108-suite ship, will do sailings from Toronto to Chicago, and the refurbished Clelia II, another all-suite ship, will travel between Toronto and Duluth, Minn.

The ships, offering eight- to 10-day cruises that start at about $4,000 per person, will stop in Mackinac Island and Houghton, but neither will stop in Detroit because there is no suitable dock. Detroit's Port Authority is scheduled to begin building such a dock in downtown Detroit next year.

For cruise details, contact the Great Lakes Cruise Co. or call 888-891-0203.
