The Algosar arrived upbound at Detour about 10 p.m. Tuesday and transited up river to the area of Mud Lake where the Katmai Bay was stopped for the night. She was expected to wait for first light before transiting up river Wednesday to open the Soo Locks for the 2009 season.
That means she is passing our cabin this morning. Any of you readers observing this?
The Coast Guard reports that they will be working on opening the waters between St. Ignace and Mackinac Island on Friday.

i have just found this site, i have been watching the soo locks cam for a few years now and have always wondered how to track the ships/boats comming and going thru the locks, this looks to be very interesting.
Thanks Patrick. This reporting will be much better when I get moved up to the Sault for the summer. Hopefully around the 1st of May. Until then, I'll do the best I can.
Thanks for the website. We are in Texas now but are looking forward to the summer in our condo in the Soo. It is on the river and we never get tired of watching the ships and boats.

Thanks James. When are you heading north back to the Soo? We are moving up on May 29th and can't wait to be back on the river. I hear the snow is all gone at our place now, so that's the first step. I imagine everything is quite wet now. We might take a load of stuff up there next week because we are selling our place here in southern Michigan and moving everything to the Soo.
